Player of the Week
“Player of the Week” is similar
to “Star of the Week” as some of the students have been a part of in years past. When it is your child’s week they will
bring in objects that are special to him/her or represent what is important to him/her. These items can be pictures, books,
trophies, ribbons, equipment, souvenirs, etc.
My favorite part of “Player of the Week” is the letters.
Every week all students of the class, the parent or parents of the student
and I write letters to the “player.” We
write letters to that student telling them what we have him common, what we like
about him/her, how they contribute to the class, and/or what he/she does well. The player will present their materials
to the class on Mondays. All letters
written by the students and parents are due by Thursday and a bound booklet with
all letters will be presented to the “Player of the Week” on Fridays.
There is an opportunity for students of the class to read their letters to
the player, and at that time I read my letter and the parent letter as well. It is a great experience for all.
