Principal’s Report: Mr. Foley
  • Thanks to PTO for gift during rehabilitation
  • Reading Fest – Kids did a great job reading and we had a fun celebration at the end. Thanks for all of your help! Collaborative efforts are needed for events such as this
  • Middle School Survey - Will be sent via email; Are considering extended day program but not for next year; This is a survey of something they’re exploring to broaden the curriculum, particularly in the area of expressive arts
  • FY09 Budget - Proposed budget is now on the Beverly schools website; class sizes may be affected so please be vigilant
  • Middle School Transition - Mr. Poska will be coming to talk to the students soon
  • Open house - Wed., March 12th 6:30 – 7:30
  • Technology – Each classroom will be receiving new computers and ceiling projection screens; Three smart boards will also be added to the 5th grade classrooms. Server has been reconfigured and computers should be delivered next week; Software will be added and then we will begin moving them. If you are interested in helping us with the transition, please call the office.

  • Bake Sale – Made $730; Thanks to everyone for their assistance; Proceeds to be used for the science room. If you would like to help with this, please let us know.
  • Hats Off to the Arts – Next one is Friday, March 7; We have raised $365 so far
  • Souper Bowl of Caring – Thanks for your participation. Our school contributed 309 items which were donated to Bootstraps Food Pantry and the nationwide value of efforts during this event was $9,522,125
  • Family Roller Skating – This was a fun night for all! Made $250 but was not meant to be a fundraiser—only a family fun night—Tickets were sold to cover our costs
  • General Reminders – Fleece, backpacks, t-shirts & water bottles are still available for sale; It was suggested that these be displayed/sold at the family dance and open house. If anyone would like to take over this project, please let us know
  • Coat Drive – 68, 588 coats were donated; thanks for your participation
  • 5th Grade Overview Meeting – Monday, March 24th at 8:30A.M. - Will begin to plan the remainder of the year; Suggestion was made to charge $1 admission for 5th grade play
  • Mrs. Brown’s husband passed away suddenly; PTO sent her an edible arrangement and will organize a school collection to purchase a tree to be planted in his memory
  • Open house - Wed., March 12th from 6:30 – 7:30 P.M.
Co-Vice President/Fundraising: Susan Koenig
  • Calendar Raffle – Made about $4800; sold 668 calendars; not bad for first year
  • Music, Meatballs & More! April 5th from 5-10 P.M. at the Hastings House This is a FUN FAMILY EVENT with spaghetti dinner, music, raffles, activities & so much more! Please save the date! More info will follow soon.
  • Tickets will be in advance only $20 adults/ $10 children or $50 maximum per family.
  • This is the first time that the Teacher Gift of Time raffles will be drawn at an event with the students in attendance. It was suggested and accepted that each student will receive one free raffle ticket.
Treasurer: Chris Baekey
  • Budget – updated summaries were distributed; The budget is a little lower than expected; Need to make an additional $10K on the April fundraiser (total $18K)
Enrichment: Paula Gould
  • Kindergarten program will be held on March 10th by the Museum of Science
  • Looking for help with planning enrichment programs, meeting/greeting; contact Paula if interested

  • Will start updating website with April fundraiser information (auction items, gift of time raffles, etc)
Citywide PTO: Lynne Scouras
  • Ayers Ryal Side School Carnival - Mar. 15th from 10 A.M. - 2 P.M.
  • Backpack drive coming up soon
