Math is much more than numbers

and

Mad About Math is full of things to see, ideas to ponder and advice to make learning math a whole lot easier. While covering shapes, estimation, patterns, problem solving, measurement, time and money, students discover they’ve been using math skills since before they could talk and that their toys were their earliest math lessons. Keith Michael Johnson developed this program using math standards in MA, RI and CT—it’s an entertaining, motivating and curriculum-based presentation for elementary school. It’s not another math lesson, it’s a “here’s why” mathapalluza!

Keith Michael Johnson back by popular demand! Wednesday, September 26, 2007

In prior years, KMJ has presented:  Science Isn’t Always Pretty, Wild about Weather and Amazing Americans.  He will present Mad About Math (approx. 50 minutes) in the Café:

     8:30   Kindergarten, Gr. 1-2
     9:45   Gr. 3-5

Since MAD ABOUT MATH premiered a couple of years ago, it's been very, very popular - thanks to our new found educational emphasis on math.  Teachers appreciate Keith's unique "take" on the topic and often wonder if he started out as a math teacher!  What a shock when they learn that for six years in elementary school, three times a week, Keith worked with a special-ed teacher.  That was just to keep up with the rest of the kids in his "regular" class.  His math-passion is genuine, his enthusiasm apparent and all his shows are guaranteed!
