Historical Perspectives for Children
Coming 3-Oct (Wed.) with a very moving program portraying Helen Keller’s fascinating life through her graduation from college and the writing of 12 books.

Helen will show students in the gym (K-2 at 9:00 and Gr. 3-5 at 10:00) how she learned to speak and read in Braille, and a Braille book will be available to see and
touch following the performance.

Helen’s mesmerizing story will help children
understand and accept the different ways people do the same things and inspire them to be the best they can be with the talents they possess.  The program is 35 minutes in length followed by 10 minutes for questions.  The program will be presented in an active story-telling format accented with slides, sound effects and taped voiceover to truly bring the character to life.
“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen nor even touched, but just felt in the heart.” --HK
Many children may be familiar with Helen.  Her story is a wonderful testimony to the power of hard work, determination and belief in oneself.  It was Helen Keller’s wish that people understand the blind and deaf can live life just as seeing and hearing people do.  They just live in a different way, adapting to the world with the senses they have.
