What is the CentervillePTO?Centerville PTO?
The Parent Teacher Organization, or PTO, is a dedicated group of families and friends that generously volunteer their time, expertise and ideas to create one of the most active school communities in Beverly .Our goal is to provide a support system between the school staff and families.

Who are we?
We are all of you. Some of us work full time, some part time, some stay at home.  We are families of students, moms, dads, single parents and friends.  Everyone is a member simply by having a student enrolled in the school, and membership is free.

PTO Meetings - Everyone is welcome!

Our PTO provides a forum through our monthly meetings for communication between parents and Centerville staff. Mr. Foley, our principal and Mrs. Mezza, our teacher representative attend all of our meetings and are available to answer questions.  Our meetings are good occasions to find out what’s going on at both the building and district levels and provide a way to contribute ideas, articulate concerns, have a voice in decision-making and meet other members of Centerville School . We also decide how to spend our hard earned money, and raise issues with Mr. Foley that are appropriate for collective consideration.  Our meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month.  The meetings are friendly, informative and short – usually less than 1 hour. All families are encouraged to attend the meetings and younger siblings are always welcome.

PTO Communication

If you are unable to attend a monthly meeting, but would like to know what was discussed, you can log on to our website at www.mycentervilleschool.com for a list of upcoming events and meeting minutes.  When you are in the building, be sure to check for news on the PTO bulletin board opposite the school office down the first long hallway.  We also encourage you to call anyone on the PTO board at anytime with PTO questions or concerns.

Each year, the PTO provides a School Directory.  Please fill out the form provided in this folder and return to your student’s homeroom teacher. If you have more than one student in the school, a separate form needs to be filled in for each student.

PTO Fundraising

We know this is everyone’s least favorite subject, but ask any returning Centerville parent and you’ll get an appreciation for the end results of our fundraising efforts – academic materials such as agenda books, educational subscriptions and supplies for each classroom, a full list of enrichment programs throughout the year, playground equipment, field trip subsidies, Fifth Grade Canobie Lake Trip, Fun Family events like Roller Palace Night, and so much more.  Though you are not required to participate in any of our fundraisers, we want everyone to understand that every effort, however big or small, helps to afford all of these wonderful programs for each and every student at Centerville School .  We do try to keep fundraising to a minimum, so as not to financially overwhelm anyone, but understand that our proposed budget this year is $36,000.  This works out to be approximately $100 per child of fundraising effort per school year.  Many of you have asked if it is possible to simply write a check payable to Centerville PTO. If finances allow, you are more than welcome to support us in this way, which of course allows us to utilize 100% of your donation. However it is that you choose to help, we appreciate your support, and value your participation as a vital part of the success of providing our varied programs.

PTO Committees

Take a look at the list of committees and you’ll see how much we do and how many volunteers it takes to accomplish our goals! Each committee has a chairperson and many have several additional committee members who help to lighten what could be an otherwise overwhelming work load. We realize that not everyone has the time or energy to dedicate to heading a committee, but do realize that even if you can only give a little of your time, we still strongly encourage you to get involved.New voices bring fresh ideas, and improved ways of bringing the best to our kids, and it is so rewarding to see the results of all of our efforts!  And remember, many hands make light work!!  Here are some of the exciting ways you can get involved, OR, if you have a great idea to add to the list please let us know!!
